Vindication! At last! The damn Riot Shield users have had their fair share of time in the limelight, tormenting gun and melee players for years.
The frustrating 'weapon' is often the most-hated piece of equipment in the game, with enemies cowering behind their bulletproof plastic, scared of getting their hands dirty with a decent gunfight.
But alas, Riot Shield users are finally set to have a taste of their own medicine, as anyone who unlocks the Soulrender weapon in Modern Warfare 3 or Warzone will be able to slice straight through their protective cover.
Soulrender Sword will slice through Riot Shields in MW3
The Modern Warfare 3 Season 2 Reloaded update has come as quite a positive new mark on Call of Duty, with many multiplayer fans liking the map changes.
The update has also brought in a new sword as a melee weapon, named Soulrender, and its arrival appears to throw it straight into the meta alongside some other overpowered conversion kits.
The melee weapon has been found to have the ability to smash past Riot Shields head-on, something that other melee weapons can't do, and is designed as a direct counter to the equipment.
Whereas the shield would usually block attacks from the front, the Soulrender will simply smash it out of the way before slicing up an enemy with a precision lock that is simply quite frightening for all players.
Sledgehammer Games confirms OP Soulrender perk
With some players guessing that this is a bug upon its launch, Sledgehammer Games has now confirmed that this is Soulrender's intention, joining the JAK Limb Ripper and JAK Purifier as a counter to the Riot Shield.
While this may not be the savviest weapon to use in multiplayer, given its lack of range, the Soulrender could be perfect to have in your back pocket in Warzone, where Riot Shields are most common - plus it allows for increased movement speed as opposed to guns.
So, if you fancy yourself as a Jon Snow rival, make sure to get your hands on this blade, as you never know when your next Rioter encounter will be.
