Sledgehammer Games' Modern Warfare 3 is the ultimate nostalgia wave for the Call of Duty community, bringing back all 16 of the iconic MW2 (2009) maps.

While some players are craving brand-new locations, other fans want the devs to travel back even further and continue this trip down memory lane.

In their opinion, Call of Duty 4 is a goldmine for OG maps that deserve a chance to be remade in Modern Warfare 3.

Although there are countless fan-favourite locations in the first Modern Warfare title, there's one map that players are craving more than any other.

CoD fans want a Downpour remake for MW3 multiplayer

Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, user UnslimJim has called on Sledgehammer Games to 'remake' Downpour for MW3 multiplayer.

The low-visibility map isn't spoken a lot about these days, but back in the Call of Duty 4 era, it was a favourite with the community.

"The most fun SnD map in cod probably," said one user, with another claiming, "I would love to see it come back, it would play so good on this game."

With the devs reportedly planning throwback seasons that celebrate classic CoD titles, you'd expect Downpour to make an appearance when it's the OG Modern Warfare's time to step into the spotlight.

MW3 fans nominate other Call of Duty 4 maps to be added

Crossfire CoD4

Downpour isn't the only CoD4 map getting a shoutout from fans though, with the community arguing the "holy trinity" of locations needs to be added.

"The Holy Trinity of CoD4 maps - Downpour, Overgrown, Vacant, I'd be happy with any combination of those." On top of these, Crossfire, Strike and District also got a mention, showcasing just how many great maps the game had back in the day.

If MW3 does get a CoD4-themed season, it's going to be another massive wave of nostalgia, one that might even outclass the current MW2 (2009) maps available in multiplayer.
