Modern Warfare 3 players have found a fatal flaw with the new JAK Limb Ripper Chainsaw, and it's guaranteed to cause a lot of frustration.

While Sledgehammer Games' Modern Warfare 3 may have taken a lot of inspiration from the past with the reworked MW2 (2009) maps, it also brought some new features to the table.

One of the most exciting examples of this is Aftermarket Parts - which are special attachments that are capable of completely changing how a gun operates.

As expected, Season 2 introduced a variety of new Aftermarket Parts, but the JAK Limb Ripper stood out from the rest - allowing players to attach a chainsaw to their gun.

Unfortunately, competitors have quickly discovered a fatal flaw with the chainsaw, and believe it or not, it's prone enemies.

MW3 Chainsaw Aftermarket Part doesn't work on prone enemies

Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, user Longbow92 decided to highlight a serious issue with the chainsaw attachment in multiplayer.

While going on a rampage with the Aftermarket Part, Longbow92 decided to rush into a room where they knew an enemy was camping. Seeing them on the floor, they jumped towards them and looked to insta-kill the foe with the JAK Limb Ripper.

That wasn't to be, though, as the attachment simply didn't work on a prone enemy. It resulted in no damage at all. It appears if you're standing up with the JAK Limb Ripper, it's not possible to kill an enemy who is lying down on the ground.

This is undoubtedly a fatal flaw with the chainsaw and something the devs need to look into as soon as possible.

CoD players discover workaround for Chainsaw problem

If you're still keen on using the chainsaw and want a workaround, users have realised that just meleeing with the JAK Limb Ripper is a one-shot kill. So, there's no need to switch to it, as a simple melee attack will still kill a prone enemy on the ground.

"You can normal melee with it btw without having to switch to it, pretty sure it one hit kills on melee like that too." said one helpful player.  While this solves the problem in practice, the main draw of using the chainsaw is the cool animation of taking down a foe with the blade.

Using a melee attack means you don't get to see this, so Sledgehammer will need to patch this issue as soon as possible.
