Well, the bells are really jingling this year in Call of Duty as Modern Warfare 3's Christmas festivities are here for all to enjoy.

But aside from a pretty nifty scruffy Santa suit, and two nicely-lit maps, there's a growing concern that all of the gifts under the tree this year aren't worth the paper they're wrapped in.

Just a couple of hours after Santa's Slayground - MW3's Christmas event - went live and players have taken to Reddit praying that all of these rewards come with a gift receipt.

MW3 players are not impressed by Santa's Slayground

Santa's Slayground, aside from being a literary disaster, is bringing an advent calendar-esque reward scheme to Modern Warfare 3 this year, where players can earn treats for completing some rather simple challenges.

There's a total of seven basic rewards, ranging from XP tokens to Calling Cards, and one Mastery reward featuring a Christmas wrap for the DG-58.

But in comparison to events gone by, fans are a bit miffed at the quality of these treats.

"Is it just me or are these event rewards lame af and not even worth getting?" one fan quizzed on a Reddit thread.

In the spirit of Scrooge, it looks like these rewards are far from Call of Duty's usual standards, and that means they're not worth doing.

Yet other fans have now called out the Grinch's of the community.

"It’s free? Who cares? They’ve done like 4 events already. No one can be just happy," one fan said.

Another chimed in with a similar sentiment, saying, "It's free? You don't have to do it? People complain about anything haha."

Still, if it isn't glowing red and green and the baubles don't turn into gas canisters that automatically fire and implode your enemies, well, it isn't worth having. Bah Humbug.
