MW3 players outraged at ‘lunacy’ XP cap on the latest Vortex Event

Modern Warfare 3 players are furious at the XP cap needed to finish the rewards in Vortex event.

Credit is due where credit is due: We're just about two months into Modern Warfare 3 and we've already had a number of in-game events filled to the brim with challenges and rewards to grind through.

With the Makarov, Santa, and now the Vortex events, players have been able to participate in light-hearted missions while going about their everyday games, and with little effort, you could have scored quite a number of funky blueprints or skins.

But, the latest event, Vortex, isn't actually going down all that well, despite it being a free-to-enjoy experience.

MW3 fans lash out at 'lunacy' XP levels in Vortex rewards

Vortex's ultimate prize is a cool-looking Camo named Magma. The universal weapon wrap can be sported on every weapon in the game and epitomises the Vortex look, taking that volcanic look on the LTM Quarry map and warping it into your hands.

But it takes 1.2 million XP to unlock, and fans are finding that an utter "lunacy".

"Dear Devs: 1.2 million XP is lunacy. Please fix. Your average Zombies player gets 20k XP per match," said one player on a Reddit post.

"Believe it or not we have lives," they added, which was followed up by another player adding, "do they think everyone plays 24/7?"

The play time for each Zombies match is capped at one hour, and given that 20,000 XP mark, this would take 60 complete games as a rough estimate, meaning you'll need to grind for nearly three days straight to get the camo (Vortex will only be available for the next nine days, so be prepared for over six-hour grind for the rest of its tenure to get one skin).

Vortex LTM dubbed as 'terrible' by MW3 players

If your camo grind isn't up to scratch, maybe you could just enjoy a quick Vortex game instead. Well, that's not an option either, apparently.

Many other players have now also dubbed the LTM mode itself as "terrible", after giving it quite the test.

"I thought this was going to be a mode where you can ONLY earn score with Ray Gun kills, similar to that of the "Man with the Golden Gun" game mode," said one underwhelmed player.

"It's basically FFA, but you don't get streaks, the ray gun is awful, and you can obtain victory without using the ray gun," they added.

Some players claimed the Ray Gun should get double points for kills, or have a bigger splash radius considering it's now a glorified crossbow.

So, it looks like Vortex was a complete flop, aside from looking pretty fancy.
