If you were under the impression that your invisible skin nightmares were over, then unfortunately, you'll have to think again. There's a new cosmetic on the block that's riling everyone up in Modern Warfare 3's Ranked game mode.

The infamous Roze and Gaia/Groot skins are both guaranteed to send shivers down the spine of any keen Call of Duty player, and it looks like another strong contender has arrived to terrorise the community once more.

Looks like invisibility's back on the menu

The release of Ranked Play in Modern Warfare 3 has seen a rise in players using the silver IO Operator skin that was released all the way back in MW2's Season 4 BlackCell bundle.

While this might seem like somewhat of a non-issue considering how long it's been in the game, players have both discovered and encountered that the skin has the power to blend into the environment quite convincingly, as reported by Sportskeeda.

This is certainly not a new occurrence of a Call of Duty title, as the well-hated Roze skin of old provided a similar way for players to hide in the shadows. What's extra frustrating, though, is that there's already been a significant skin controversy in MW3, thanks to the invisible Groot skin plaguing the game to this day.

One commenter remarked on the IO skin, saying that they "can't even see what skin it is," which is troubling from both a visibility and functionality point of view. Some are arguing that this is relatively overblown, as the player "got lucky with the floor matching their skin," but others are taking it as an indication of a larger issue overall.

Should skins be removed from Ranked Play?

One popular solution that has been commonly suggested within the community is that Operator skins should be disabled altogether in Ranked Play, avoiding the chance of any giving a competitive advantage.

The benefit that skins like these give in-game, alongside the fact that they can be considered 'pay to win' has given this movement quite the following, but it is unlikely to actually result in anything.

For now, you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for those pesky hidden skins, as you never know when one might be hiding in plain sight in front of you.
