We almost forgot Modern Warfare 3 was still alive and kicking, what with the launch of XDefiant, VALORANT console, and the Black Ops 6 announcement - with the latter taking over a lot of the limelight in the Call of Duty universe.

Many others have felt the same, but Modern Warfare 3 isn't going down without a fight. Season 4 Reloaded is on the horizon, and as it looks like a divisive BattleBit slash Roblox mimic mode is coming, it's left the fun police to arrive in full force.

Modern Warfare 3 is turning into BattleBit with a new 8-bit makeover

With Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 Reloaded, Sledgehammer Games is sprucing up its map pool again. The developers are rolling out changes to the likes of Das Haus with a new aline-inspired Vortex variant named Das Gross, while a range of new maps will be added.

But the biggest change comes in the form of Bitvela. The Brazillian map Favela has been inducted into its own "Retro Warfare Event", as the landscape is getting an 8-bit makeover to look like Minecraft, Roblox, BattleBit, and CoD rolled into one.

The map will come in an exclusive mode called Bit Party, where the Operators will also get inflating head sizes with the more kills that they get.

But it has left some Call of Duty fans with a sour taste in their mouths, hoping that the franchise gets back to basics. "Please god just become Call of Duty again," one fan said on X (formerly Twitter).

Another added, "Improve your game fix glicthes no but make your game cartoon yes wow." This sentiment was a popular one, with a third fan echoing it by saying, "So instead of fixing all the ongoing problems with the game, they make a cartoon game mode??? LMFAO."

Others like the look of this "cool" variant, though, leaning into the fun and wackiness. Popular streamer Jason "Jev" Eugene said, "This s**t is adorable though."

The BattleBit rip-off is optional, so you don't have to play the mode, and Favela will be the same old map in the usual playlists. Still, why not offer up a bit of fun and variation?
