The Basilisk pistol, or Modern Warfare 2's version of the Magnum as older players will see it, is pretty rubbish in the current day.

The revolver has been nerfed into the ground after the dual-wield Snakeshot debacle ran wild, and now the once venomous weapon causes no more damage than a cat bite.

That is until Modern Warfare 3's new Aftermarket Part conversion kit comes in to give the weapon its fangs back.

MW3's JAK Gunslinger kit brings the venomous Wild West back

Having completed the rondo of Modern Warfare 3 weapons, the Aftermarket Part system has begun creating brutal upgrades to the crop of MW2 guns carried forward, and the latest conversion kit comes for the Basilisk.

The JAK Gunslinger kit has vastly increased the rate of fire for this revolver, making it more like a fully automatic weapon, yet it still packs a brutal punch with every ping of its massive bullets.

Mixing the Wild West gunslinger with the modern-day AMP kits has been quite fun already for players, who have now taken to Reddit to show off how good it is.

"It’s beautiful," one fan said. "Reminds me of a fast-firing revolver from CoD WW2, even the characteristic of the gun firing reminds me of it."

Another fan complimented it, ticking the Basilisk upgrade off their wish list. "I wished for alternative ammo with the basilisk way back when I saw it during the reveal trailer of MWII, and I'm happy SHG delivers it here," they said.

There have been some critics though. Those who obsess over realism, and those who like clean-cut animations, have picked this weapon apart, noticing that a missed opportunity to have a fan and hammer, and joking that its white appearance looks like a 3D-printed kit that should melt when the gunpowder explodes. You can't please everyone, eh?
