Among many other assault rifles throughout the ages, the Modern Warfare series champions the ACR, while Black Ops' M8A1 burst-fire rifle is a meta gone but never forgotten.
The four-round burst gun was a staple in both Black Ops 2 and 3 and is often reminisced over as the best AR meta ever, while the MSMC reigned supreme in the SMG game.
But after years and years of full auto dominance and burst-fire negligence (aside from one month's worth of AUG and M16 fun on Warzone), the M8A1 is finally back. Kind of.
The M8A1 is back in Call of Duty with the latest Mw3 Aftermarket Part
Aftermarket Parts are a new feature to Call of Duty, birthed in Modern Warfare 3, and although they haven't quite lived up to the expectations set in the beta with the Renetti, more are on the way.
This time, the Holger 556 is getting a pack-a-punch, as the JAK Signal Burst kit has arrived.
But following some initial bad press, being labelled as useless by fans, others have noticed some stark similarities to the M8A1 of old.
Burst-fire guns are returning to meta in MW3
A bunch of fans have taken to social media to show off this M8A1 build, where a single four-round burst is dealing enough damage to eliminate an opponent, much as it was back in 2012.
There is a slight recoil issue for those players who enjoy very long-distance combat, meaning it might not be best suited for your Warzone loadout, but as far as multiplayer goes, the rifle appears to be as deadly as ever.
Combined with the DG-58 too, the burst meta is back in Modern Warfare 3, and for those who like to reminisce over the old Black Ops days, this might be the closest we've ever come.
