MW3 tipped to tee up Black Ops 6 with Woods Operator

Modern Warfare 3 is apparently teeing up the rumoured Black Ops 6/Gulf War by embedding an icon into the game.

As the pace gathers for Modern Warfare 3 to move out of the way for Call of Duty 2024, it looks like a Black Ops legend will be coming to the sister sub-series.

For the most part, Black Ops and Modern Warfare stay firmly separated in Call of Duty lore, and only a few exceptions have been made in the past, like Captain Price landing in Cold War and some Zombies antagonists popping up in the Infinity Ward campaigns.

However, as Black Ops is set to return from its four-year hiatus, it appears that one icon is destined to land in Modern Warfare 3. It's all as dataminers have found notions of an Operator named Woods.

MW3 dataminers claim Woods is coming with a Black Ops crossover

The legendary Frank Woods is set to be coming to Modern Warfare 3 as the two worlds collide in the Call of Duty franchise.

According to popular leaker "Reality", who also shared that the Mustang and Sally is returning for a Black Ops 6 in-game reveal, Woods has been found within the Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone files as part of Season 3 Reloaded.

The leaker claimed that Woods will be a bonus reward given to players who pre-order Black Ops 6, much like Makarov and Price were used in Modern Warfare 3. Woods has been a popular figure in Black Ops since the first game and is up there with Mason as the series' picture boy.

Black Ops pre-order bonuses hint at cross-game progression again

What this does open the door to is cross-game progression again, as why would players get access to Woods for a number of weeks, only to leave Modern Warfare 3 on the shelf to gather dust?

Unless this is a one-off skin that will work in both games, this series crossover leaves open the realm of possibility that MW3 (and, by extension, MW2) skins could be carried over to Black Ops 6.

The more likely outcome is that the files refer to Warzone, given how it's all under the CoD HQ umbrella now. Warzone is much more likely to have skins carrying over rather than MW3, given Treyarch appears keen to have this instalment shine in its own light.
