While many maps are set in the backdrop of Rio De Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer, the urban back alleys of London, or other major cities around the world, Modern Warfare 3 has decided to rip the script up.

Sledgehammer Games has put together a trippy new map, inspired by the parkour mode G3T_H1GH that proved to be incredibly popular.

The new 6v6 map has been received well, but it's also left fans demanding more.

Call of Duty fans hail new G3T H1GH3R Mosh Pit map

After being leaked last week, fans have been waiting with bated breath to try out the new G3T_H1GH3R multiplayer map, which closes the neon jungle into a smaller and reactive environment where players can operate on modes like Team Deathmatch and Hardpoint.

And fans love it. Especially the reactive and moving elements that evolve during the game.

Taking to Reddit, one player said, "This was definitely a pleasant surprise."

"I almost completely overlooked it at first since I thought it was just the normal speedrunning playlist. The shifting walls and openings to slide through have made for some fun moments and it's nice to have something with such an atypical look just for some variety."

Another added, "I just think it’s funny. We don’t need immersive maps. Just give us the rough sketch with no textures and we’re good."

But there is a sense of disappointment that there aren't more creative designs like this.

MW3s new mode leaves players demanding a custom map creator

For many reasons, Call of Duty lost a lot of its younger audience to Fortnite, so maybe this concept shows that the franchise needs to take a look at its competitors’ Creative mode and realise that Modern Warfare 3 or Black Ops 6 would benefit from a similar approach.

The new MW3 map has only made calls for a custom map maker louder, too, as players note that not all maps need to be wonderful recreations of real-world cities. As long as the layout is good, there's fun to be had.

"Imagine workshop maps on CoD," one Redditor said.

Another agreed, saying, "This ought to be the case. Public custom games should be a thing".

Whether fan-made maps come or not, this change of style and pace has hit a chord with CoD fans and it’s clear that they want more.
