The future of Call of Duty could be incredibly bright. Though the series has suffered in recent years, with players not exactly remaining warm to Vanguard and disdain with Warzone and its cheaters growing by the day, there's still some good stuff to come.
Modern Warfare II has got a lot of players ready to return to the classic series, and the promise of a brand-new Warzone sequel by Infinity Ward has given the gaming industry hope. But, as it turns out, that's not all that Call of Duty has in store for us.
Call Of Duty Reveals Project Aurora
In an exciting blog post, Call of Duty has officially revealed that it's working on a brand-new mobile game, codenamed Project Aurora. And suddenly, fan speculation has ramped into overdrive.
Seemingly in response to a series of leaks and hints across the internet, the game has been revealed to be in early development with first gameplay tests in the game's closed Alpha currently in progress.
"Our mission with Project Aurora, the codename for our new mobile title, is to bring friends, families, and people around the world together in a global community of diverse players with a fast-paced, precise, and high-quality Battle Royale action experience that delivers a fresh new way to play," reads the post.
Is Project Aurora Warzone Mobile?
The reference to the game being a battle royale has made fans wonder if this codenamed project could be a mobile port or overhaul of the Warzone formula, and frankly, they might not be far off. Unless you're Fortnite, a game's adaptation to mobile, battle royale or otherwise, often brings with it a wealth of changes.
It's likely this game is being kept under a codename because it's a separate entity from the main game. So, it could yet be a new Warzone experience - but much like the mobile port of Apex Legends, it's likely to be quite different. This is exciting, as Call of Duty hasn't had much of a chance to flourish on mobile in the West and this could be a whole new way to drop into Warzone. Thins are looking promising, but now, Project Aurora needs to stick the landing.
