Ratings aren't everything in sports games. For years, EA inflated Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the upper echelons of football (soccer - this is about NBA now), only for him to be a bit slugging in-game with little movement. This torch was soon passed to Harry Kane, who sat at 90 rated in FC 25 but sucked in-game.

NBA 2K weighs  a lot of emphasis on ratings in the basketball series, and this year will be no different. For the first time in 2K history, the bar has been pushed to its absolute limit, and a WNBA star has reached the maximum 99 rating.

A'ja Wilson breaks 2K25 record as WNBA ratings revealed

Only three players ever have hit the 99 mark in NBA 2K at release. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Until now.

After becoming the cover star for NBA 2K25 - the first female to be pictured as the face of the basketball series - A'ja Wilson has been rated 99, making her the best female hooper of all time and joining a prestigious company in the 99 club.

The top five WNBA players have now been revealed, with Breanna Stewart (97) following closely behind Wilson in second, joined by Napheesa Collier (95), Alyssa Thomas (95), and Brittney Griner (94).

The top five WNBA rookies have also be named, as two of the leading stars have seen impressive breakthrough seasons on the court, while three others have also become mainstays in the league.

Caitlyn Clark and Angel Resse - the WNBA's most exciting players and media treasures - come straight into the game with 90 ratings, who will prove popular in MyGM and MyCareer given their untapped potential.

Kamilla Cardoso, Rickea Jackson, and Cameron Brink are make up the best of the rest in the rookie class of '24 to be added to NBA 2K25, all coming with flat 80 ratings, ten behind Clark and Resse.

2K25 also revealed that Resse and Clark will both star in The W stories this year, as The Pursuit of Greatness continues. The mode will also get press conferences and mentorships as The W gets some much-needed love.
