Henry Cavill has one last fight in him, as his time as Geralt of Rivia is nearly at an end. Having played the long-haired lothario in the first three seasons of The Witcher, the former Superman actor is bowing out to be replaced by Liam Hemsworth.

To say that fans have been outraged at the news would be an understatement. Amidst whispers that Cavill tried to leave The Witcher back in Season 2, there are claims the writers hate the source material, while the first half of Season 3 didn't exactly debut to glowing praise.

Netflix is releasing The Witcher Season 3 Part 2 early

Before Hemsworth has even put on a blonde wig, there are angry promises that viewers will be boycotting Season 4. Still, there are three episodes left, with the second part of Season 3 being saved for a July 27 release date.

Love or hate where The Witcher has ended up, there are sure to be legions joining in on July 27, just to see how Netflix's fantasy series transitions from Cavill to Hemsworth. Before you book the day off work, fear not, Netflix is airing the first part of Cavill's final The Witcher episodes early.

Netflix Geeked announced an "Exclusive Fan Event" for The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2, which will give select fans a virtual screening on July 25. To join, head to the You'll need to head to the special site and RSVP.

Unfortunately, it's only for the first episode, so you'll still have to wait until July 27 to see how Cavill really exits the series. There's also a mention of The Witcher trivia, although there's no word on whether you'll actually win anything.

Cavill to Hemsworth transition to be "meta"

Henry Cavill as Geralt The Witcher Season 3

Recasting your lead is no easy feat, and while some shows would've called it quits there (imagine Breaking Bad recasting Bryan Cranston), showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is powering ahead regardless. There are questions about how we'll get a new Geralt, but one producer might've spoiled the surprise.

Speaking to Radio Times, Executive Producer Tomek Bagiński clarified comments that the transition between actors would be "meta." Bagiński championed Hissrich and the returning writers, saying, "I think they cobbled together a really nice opening which is really true to the book."

He weirdly goes on to tease a sort of Marvel Multiverse transition by adding, "People who know the books really deeply also know that this is not a typical fantasy book. It's not just one world. It's not just one story happening in those books, in those stories. It's a huge, huge world which is very, very complex."

So, will Hemsworth be playing a Multiverse version of Cavill's Geralt and will there be some sort of Red Dwarf-inspired swap to bring the series into sci-fi territory? Either way, we imagine there are going to be some pretty p*ssed viewers when the credits roll on Henry Cavill's final episode of The Witcher.
