Apex Legends has been enjoying a massive bout of success recently. The arrival of Mad Maggie in the latest season, as well as a fresh new game mode that allows the legends to stretch their legs outside of the battle royale framework and let new players get to grips with the game's characters has been incredibly welcome. Fans are showing up in their droves and pushing player counts for the game to all-new heights, and proving that Respawn Entertainment's foray into the BR genre isn't one to be sniffed at.
The game has a small collection of maps that make the game special, each set on a new world with all-new environments to explore - though it looks like the next map might not be set on a world at all.
The Next Apex Legends Map Could Be On A Moon
As it turns out, it looks like the otherworldly aspect of Apex Legends could be left aside to some degree, as the next map may not go to another world at all - in fact, it could go to a world's moon instead.
Leaks are suggesting that the next full battle royale map coming to the game could be set on a planet's moon, and images are beginning to surface of incredibly early builds. One of these images has been shared to the Apex Legends subreddit by user XJust_be_niceX, showing off some incredibly early models with a seemingly low-gravity rendered background. The post itself seems convinced that the map is set on a moon, and the comments seem to concur.
Naturally, this could be revealed to be a doctored image - but it'd certainly be interesting to see a new map set on the moon, especially if it can have fun with the location's gravity.
Apex Fans React To Supposed Moon Map
Apex Legends fans are sounding off in the comments, and many of them seem to think that a moon map is plausible.
"Thordan[smash, Apex Legends leaker] tweeted something like a month ago that was kinda cryptic, just an image that said 'the wizard from the moon!' and captioned it with 'this will make sense in season 15.'"
A lot of players have also compared the aesthetics of the background to the location Typhon from Titanfall 2 - and frankly, it'd be a great idea for the location to make it into the game. Titanfall integration with Apex has gone down a treat so far, so a full crossover map could be a genuine surprise that makes the games' ties even stronger.
We may not know more about this new map for some time after just getting the latest map in Storm Point, but this is promising, and proof that Respawn is thinking very far ahead indeed. A new moon-themed map could be fantastic - even if we're waiting a few seasons for it.
