Like A Dragon Pirate

Yakuza sets sail, with the Like A Dragon franchise adding another spinoff that focuses on Goro Majima.

Announced at today’s RGG Summit event, Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii takes the fan-favourite character, equips him with a cutlass, and sends him off on his own adventure.

The new entry, which follows on from Infinite Wealth (released this year to critical acclaim), won't be an RPG, and will seemingly lean into the action style of previous games and the recent Ishin: Like A Dragon.

The game will launch on February 28, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, but will also come to PS4 and Xbox One. For anyone counting, those consoles will be over 11 years old by then.

Over on the Yakuza Games Reddit, fans have been taking the news about as well as expected, given how popular Majima has been for years.

"Holy peak fiction," one commenter cheered, while another joked "RGG "try not to cook up the greatest ideas for video games ever challenge" (impossible)".

Others are just thrilled that Majima is getting his own game, and the long-running soap opera will be getting another instalment.

It's been a big few years for the Yakuza/Like A Dragon franchise. Following a series of remasters, Yakuza: Like A Dragon switched protagonists and became an RPG, while 2021 saw Lost Judgement launch.

2023 saw the arrival of a Like A Dragon: Ishin, as well as The Man Who Erased His Name, leading into this year's Infinite Wealth.
