It’s been a while since we've seen those. New Overwatch esports skins are on the way both for the Overwatch League and for the impending Overwatch World Cup.

While we'll have to wait a little longer for the Dallas Fuel OWL season 5 championship skins, the new OWC skins have already made it into the hero gallery.

Overwatch League championship skin update

According to the Head of the Overwatch League, Sean Miller, the Dallas Fuel championship skins for their victory in the 2022 Grand Finals are coming.

Miller announced that the new championship skins are set to come out before the end of Overwatch League in 2023, which sets the launch window to about early to mid-October when the OWL Season 6 Grand Finals are estimated to occur.

Every season, Overwatch League has given a championship-winning skin to the winning franchise, imprinting their logo into a hero's unique attire. Skins like Sombra's Zuhlong for season 4 winners Shanghai Dragons, or Winston's Flying Aces for London Spitfire's victory in the inaugural season are examples of the program.

Both a Kiriko or Sojourn skin given their importance to the playoff outcome appear plausible, though Blizzard has given no indication which hero would receive the skin.

Overwatch World Cup skins snuck into the game

The Overwatch World Cup is going to take place for the first time after a long hiatus, with the last one coming in 2019. It was here that the US took the crown and has been the reigning champion ever since.

With the World Cups' first stage taking place during the Midseason break of the Overwatch League, the action is soon going to pick up, and indeed, some skins have already made it into the game - though perhaps unintentionally.

So far, you are only able to purchase these skins through the hero gallery, selecting the filter for Overwatch esports. Not every hero has one of the two coloured skins (orange and white, respectively) available yet, and one can be purchased for 1000 Coins which translates to roughly $10.

According to Reddit user u/RainbowBBfan, purchasing one of those skins unlocks the other colour variant as well. At 1000 Coins, the price is pretty steep, and it remains to be seen if this is the value Blizzard intended to sell these skins for. It's currently unknown if it will change once those skins presumably hit the shop.
