Despite having switched to Apex Legends in recent months, Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff remains an avid supporter of the Call of Duty franchise, in which he has recently been made eternal within the franchise.
Off the back of his own Operator skin landing in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 - the first time a streamer or contact creator has been honoured in a Call of Duty game - the icon has now returned to the battle royale which he thrived from.
Now, although his love for Apex hasn't waivered, NICKMERCS has claimed that Warzone Ranked is a 'big step in the right direction' of reviving the battle royale.
NICKMERCS praises Warzone Ranked mode
Although the Ranked playlist has come under fire in recent days, NICKMERCS has now praised the game mode, saying that it's a big step for Call of Duty in captivating its player base, specifically those die-hard fans that want their competitive itch to be scratched.
"This is definitely a big step in the right direction for Call of Duty. I don’t think anyone would disagree with that," NICKMERCS said. "The community has not been happy for a while. However, this is a big day for them."
"There's a new mode in here that these players can grind, they have a big-time competition coming up for them to play in. I think for me, being as competitive as I am, that's what I want to see, those are the things I love," he added.
NICKMERCS wants Apex Legends to learn from Warzone
"I think content creators need to be involved a little bit more, professional esports organizations need to be compensated better, and they need to tap into that whole area better if they can," he also said on-stream.
Although Ranked is far from perfect, the notoriously under-fire Infinity Ward seems to be learning from its mistakes. While there will always be some who disagree with how Ranked is handled, having the support of someone like NICKMERCS is sure to have the team feeling a little better.
