Angry gamers are loading their Walther PPKs and putting Nintendo in their sights, as the latest update to GoldenEye 007 has reportedly broken the beloved game on Nintendo Switch. It took us 26 years to get the game on Switch, but now, it's in a sorry state.

Originally released on the Nintendo 64 back in 1997, GoldenEye 007 arrived at the peak of Rare's prowess and arguably set the scene for first-person shooters on home consoles. We might not have the likes of Halo and Call of Duty if not for GoldenEye 007, so put some respect on that name.

GoldenEye 007 is reportedly broken on Nintendo Switch

Content creator Graslu00 is known for their love of GoldenEye 007, and taking to Twitter, they shared their disappointment about the latest update. There have been noticeable differences between the Nintendo and Xbox ports of GoldenEye 007, with both of them having their problems.

According to Gaslu00, the latest Nintendo Switch Online update has made GoldenEye 007 worse than ever. Although there are fixes to texture tilting in Dam and dark areas in Bunker, exploded objects are still too dark, the watch menu is broken, and the audio is a major gripe.

Others jumped into the comments to echo Graslu00's sentiments, begging for Nintendo to revert back to the previous release. Worse yet, Graslu00 says the Xbox version is still the "same mess" it was eight months ago. They go on to suggest the best way to play is by emulating on PC.

Will we get a new-gen GoldenEye 007?

GoldenEye 007

While you normally hear gamers calling for a new-gen remaster of classic games, you don't tend to hear that for GoldenEye 007. Although something like Banjo-Kazooie is calling out for a new-gen revamp, part of GoldenEye 007's charm is its pixelated faces and sometimes clunky controls.

Following the original release, we had Eurocom's GoldenEye 007 on the Wii in 2010. It was more a reimagining than a remaster, and while it was positively received, it didn't make the same mark as its predecessor. Some titles just work as they are, so please don't touch GoldenEye 007 - just look at the GTA Trilogy
