Oh goodness, it's happened. Perhaps Nintendo's worst nightmare is coming true - the upcoming The Legend of Zelda title - set to breach the successes of Breath of the Wild - has leaked completely. Worse yet, it's two weeks ahead of time.

There was every chance this could have happened, but this far ahead of time, it's an absolute travesty for the game. Tears of the Kingdom has a massive hype train behind it, and yet, players are already trying it out on their PCs and their Steam Decks.

What these wannabe Ganondorfs didn't have the foresight to see, was that Nintendo's notoriously ninja-like legal team is hot on their heels and will likely be coming after them. To be honest, we'd probably wait two weeks.

Nintendo is on the prowl for lost Zelda copies

Fans are bracing for impact after Nintendo appears to be rolling our punishment to those who are taking Tears of the Kingdom for an unauthorised spin.

The game has seemingly been leaked online from early retail copies pouring out into the world, and now as players give it a go, Nintendo is wasting no time in punishing anyone tempted to use torrents.

One particular case was first reported by Kotaku and is telling of how nervous those involved in Discords dedicated to the sharing of copies of the game are. There's a copypasta that reads "In case of an investigation by any federal entity or similar.

"I do not have any involvement with this group or the people in it, I do not know how I am here, probably added by a third party, I do not support any actions by the member of this group." Yikes. This major Discord channel has now been shut down, as only a taste of the wrath of big Ninty.

Nintendo fans are quaking in their boots

The scariest part of Nintendo cracking down is that we simply don't know where it ends. The company charged one of its hackers $14 million dollars to be paid over his lifetime, likely never to be paid in full.

With Nintendo having no trouble in dishing out cease and desist letters over players enjoying Breath of the Wild mods, it's honestly a possibility that everyone who has touched a leaked copy could pay the price. Kotaku reports that Twitch streams are being quickly suspended, but that hasn't stopped more popping up.

Nintendo is perhaps the worst of all the major games companies when it comes to legal action, and now that its baby has been breached, it's payback time. Beware, downloaders - your days could be numbered.
