UK students aged between 12 and 18 are getting ready to showcase their skills in the recently announced Digital Schoolhouse Splatoon 3 Tournament.

In collaboration with Nintendo UK, the Digital Schoolhouse initiative will provide an immersive learning experience aimed at introducing students to the myriad career opportunities within the video games and esports sectors.

Shahneila Saeed, Director at Digital Schoolhouse, emphasized that the endeavour seeks to reimagine “what good careers education can be,” promising a fun, hands-on environment where students can explore their potential futures in the industry.

Bridging the gap between education and the gaming industry

The tournament, set to be the seventh of its kind, is more than just a gaming competition. By assuming real-world industry roles, students will foster valuable skills including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

According to Digital Schoolhouse research, this innovative approach to education has already demonstrated significant success, with the initiative reaching over 30,000 students and encouraging a 40% rise in those interested in studying computing.

In addition to nurturing budding talents, the tournament will introduce students to industry leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and “smart skills” needed to succeed both in higher education and their prospective careers.

Previous participants have credited the programme with helping secure university admissions and fostering necessary skills for their professional life.

Preparing the next generation

According to Kalpesh Tailor, Head of Communications at Nintendo UK, the initiative hopes to “inspire the next generation of young minds in the UK.”

Tailor expressed confidence that the Splatoon 3 Tournament and its associated educational activities would foster enthusiasm and engagement among students.

Further details about participation can be found on the Digital Schoolhouse website.

Schools interested in registering for the tournament or becoming a Digital Schoolhouse can find the necessary information through the official release or sign up directly
