Nothing gets the Call of Duty community more excited than a trip down memory lane, and Modern Warfare 3 certainly hasn't been afraid to take inspiration from the past.

With the likes of Terminal, Highrise, Skidrow, and Rust from MW2 (2009) making up the bulk of the map pool at release, the devs have been playing the nostalgia card.

This trend looks like it'll continue in the Season 3 patch, with eagle-eyed players spotting a classic weapon in the trailer. In one of the frames, an Operator can be seen holding the MORS Sniper from Advanced Warfare, hinting the rifle may arrive in the update.

Advanced Warfare's MORS Sniper Rifle is coming to MW3

Taking to Twitter on March 26, popular Call of Duty account CharlieINTEL showcased a frame from the Rebirth Island Season 3 trailer that has sparked a lot of excitement in the community.

An Operator can be seen holding the MORS Sniper Rifle from Advanced Warfare, which was a fan-favourite weapon from back in the day that was known for being extremely hard-hitting.

The sniper was devastating from long range, capable of killing enemies in a single shot to the torso or arms. Its slow rechambering speed made it difficult to take out multiple targets in a row. Based on its performance in Advanced Warfare, it's most likely going to thrive best in Warzone.

While the devs haven't confirmed when it's coming in Season 3, it's possible it could be added at the beginning or in the middle of the season. However, its presence in the trailer will certainly not be a mistake.

CoD fans are concerned the MORS will be underpowered in MW3

While countless MW3 fans are on the moon that the "beautiful" MORS is finally going to make a return, others are a little more sceptical.

Snipers so far in Modern Warfare 3 (aside from the Longbow) have been struggling in the meta, and the community are worried the MORS is going to be underpowered at release.

"Still won’t one shot and it’ll have an insane flinch," said one user, with another begging, "Please be god-like and not nerf this to hell as they did with all the other snipers."

Only time will tell whether the MORS will live up to expectations, but it's very clear that the playerbase still loves taking a trip down memory lane - the more nostalgia, the better.
