In Warzone 2 Season 5, the long-range meta is being dominated by Battle Rifles, with the Cronen Squall and TAQ-V standing out as the premium options.

Both guns sit in the top five rankings in terms of pick rate, with the TAQ-V even reaching an unbelievable 22.5%. As a result, LMGs as a whole have been tossed to the wayside and are receiving significantly less attention than they deserve.

For WZ2 guru James "JGOD" Godoy, there's one specific LMG that stands out from the crowd with its "low recoil" and fast reload speeds, giving it the potential to be a true contender in Season 5.

While the RPK isn't the outrageously strong weapon it once was back at the release of Warzone 2, the OG LMG can certainly hold its own in Season 5. For JGOD, its combination of a big magazine, low recoil, and fast reload times makes it a solid weapon for carrying matches on Al Mazrah & Vondel.

Unlike a lot of LMGs, the RPK feels significantly less bulky and sluggish, meaning there's room to manoeuvre and outplay foes in gunfights. Another great aspect of the RPK is that "you don't need any headshots" with the weapon to secure a top-tier TTK.

All you have to do is land your bullets on target and your opponents will be torn apart at long-range. Overall, this is the perfect weapon for a player who wants to prioritise ease of use and consistently hit their targets from a distance.

How popular is the RPK in Warzone 2?

According to WZRanked, the RPK currently has a 1.2% pick rate which puts it at twelfth in the overall popularity rankings. While guns like the Cronen and TAQ-V may have strong TTKs, the RPK offers unmatched control and stability.

Sometimes, WZ2 players focus too much on TTK and forget that landing your shots is the most important factor in a gunfight. If you're looking to hit the target consistently, the RPK is the way to go.
