Throughout the years, Call of Duty has had plenty of iconic guns, especially over in Black Ops (think Galil, MSMC, M8A1, etc.).
But the series also has a number of guns that aren't as widely recognised but are equally as fabled for being just as powerful, if not more - even for just a short time.
Now, Black Ops 6 will pay homage to those, as Treyarch has confirmed that the Gunsmith will be used to reintroduce some classic guns from the past.
Black Ops 6 adds the Hades Crossbar from BO4
Already in the Black Ops 6 Beta, players have found an LMG that appears to have had a nod towards guns from the past, namely the Hades Crossbar from Black Ops 4.
The LMG has an attachment which allows players to fire from the hip with incredible accuracy, and while this sacrifices a lot of mobility, it already seems to be deadly.
The Hades Crossbar fits into the same category as the Chainsaw in Ghosts, where this type of LMG was born. But it won't be the last Black Ops throwback gun to be added, as Treyarch has revealed more are on the way.
More Black Ops throwback weapons planned for the future
Writing on X, Treyarch's Matt "MaTtKs" Scronce said, "We've got some fun stuff planned inspired by Operator Mods built into Gunsmith and Attachments," followed by a cheeky wink emoji. This insinuates that many more guns like this will be available come launch and in live service.
There's no knowing quite what this means, though. Will it be akin to the aftermarket parts from Modern Warfare 3, or simply a few attachments that completely transform existing weapons into these throwback guns?
The latter option seems to be the most viable, as Treyarch has not marketed any special tools for the gunsmith, such as AMP kits. Still, here's hoping to have an MSMC build or a true M8A1 - after all, MaTtKs also tweeted that he's pushing for a burst meta again...
