Despite Treayrch having one of the longest development cycles in Call of Duty history, it was always going to be a huge risk implementing a brand-new movement mechanic into Black Ops 6

Yet Treyarch has wagered every other mechanic in its arsenal all on omnimovement - no matter how good the core game is. However, if this 360-degree directional system fails, the entire game will flop too.

So, it comes as no surprise that after a matter of days on the Black Ops 6 Beta, Treyarch has nerfed its new ominmovement.

Omnimovement nerfed for Black Ops 6 Open Beta

Taking to the most recent patch notes blog post, Treyarch confirmed that omnimovement has already been tweaked in terms of how different weapons are handled, specifically the speed when ADS and strafing.

We are making small adjustments to baseline movement speeds on all weapon classes to make sure they are sitting in a good spot relative to one another. We have mostly focused on Move Speeds and ADS Move Speeds, which come into play during combat engagements,” the blog post said.

The developers noted that they wanted more players to use their melee knives to activate faster movement rather than the only benefit being unlimited sprinting.

Omnimovement nerfs leave Tac Sprint in the cold

Previously, a now-deleted tweet went viral showing off Black Ops 6 sprinting with Tac Sprint completely removed, as it gained traction for looking better than the current build, leaving players wanting it gone.

Now, these omnimovement changes have called into question why it's necessary at all.

"What the f**k is the point of tac sprint in this game???" quizzed popular leaker and personality "TheGhostOfHope" on Twitter. "They’re literally buffing base movement speeds which makes the difference between Tac Sprint and Regular Sprint even less LOL."

Another popular comment read, "Tac sprint needs [to be] removed. Simplified and consistent movement. Smooth transition to omnimovement. Feel more like a Treyarch game. Less sprint to fire penalties."

The movement was sure to cause some friction, but it already looks like Treyarch is dialling things back.
