Although Modern Warfare 3's Weekend One Beta was overwhelmingly successful, and the devs have already responded to feedback from the community, there are still some red flags being pointed out by fans.
One of these is fundamental issues that appear to have been carried over from MW2, exposing the similarities in both games' designs. A particularly frustrating problem is the return of "one-sided" smokes in MW3, which has always been a long-standing issue in MW2.
This effectively means that smoke is visible for one player and not another, making it easy to get laser-beamed by someone you can't see.
'One-sided' smokes are already causing issues in MW3
Taking to the ModernWarfareIII subreddit, user Sluuunk showcased a clip proving that the one-way smoke issues have been carried over to MW3.
While playing on Skidrow during a match of Domination, Sluuunk decided to push towards objective A under the cover of smoke. Thinking they were safe, they began to push forward but were immediately beamed by an enemy who didn't miss a single shot.
A confused Sluuunk waited for the kill cam and realised that the foe didn't even see any smoke on their screen. This confirms "one-sided" smokes are still a problem in MW3 and that Sledgehammer, at least for now, hasn't managed to find a fix.
MW3 fans slam 'embarrassing' devs for not fixing smokes
Seeing this long-standing problem make a return in another brand new CoD game has been slammed as "embarrassing" by the fans.
In their opinion, MW3 was a chance for a fresh start and to iron out these serious issues, so there's no excuse for porting them over.
"It's super frustrating being beamed by someone you can't see through thick smoke... Several times it's happened to me," said one user, with another arguing, "Client-side smokes, again, what the hell are the testers doing? Why did they start the beta when the obvious problems still exist and didn't get fixed."
While positivity is still at an all-time high for the Beta, it's very possible that MW3 could have the most "brutal post-honey moon ever" if the devs carry over frustrating problems from MW2. Let's hope they can find a fix before the November 10 release.
