Its a rivalry as old as time itself, but which prime team was the best in Call of Duty history, is it OpTic Dynasty or Atlanta FaZe?

They are dubbed as the greatest teams of all time (although old-school compLexity fans might also throw a tuppence into the hat). OpTic Gaming's dynasty team in Advanced Warfare through Black Ops 3 and into Infinite Warfare, and Atlanta FaZe's pinnacle Cold War roster, are often hailed as the most talented teams ever to have been created.

Even though the debate is still out as to whether FaZe can be seen as a "dynasty" in Call of Duty folklore is still one that is yet to have been decided, a new debate has arisen, and it's splitting the community in two: Who would win in a series: the peak Dynasty roster or Atlanta FaZe's ring-winning team?

Call of Duty esports community cannot decide on the best team of all time

That was the question posed on social media, as "world war three" erupted. It's undeniable that OpTic Gaming has the biggest fan base in Call of Duty esports, possibly even bigger than everyone else combined.

With this in mind, it's no surprise that a lot of the comments cemented the T2P duo of Seth "Scump" Abner and Matthew "FormaL" Piper as untouchable.

Others noticed that OpTic's Search and Destroy performance over the years hasn't been- quite as good as Atlanta FaZe's, who continue to defy logic on the round-based game mode and were almost invincible on Cold War.

Some fans even went as far as to look at the individual matchups between each player in their respective positions to try and settle the matter.

Of course, the competition is much more fierce in the CDL era than it was when OpTic dominated for three years straight, possibly weighing in FaZe's favour, but this debate is quickly counteracted when looking at OpTic's mass collection of trophies and consecutive championships.

The entirety of the Dynasty roster has now retired, with Scump and Ian "Crimsix" Porter laying down their competitive controllers this season, meaning we'll likely never know the answer to the debate.

Then again, an off-season show match would be one of the most highly-anticipated exhibitions ever and might be the only way of settling who the GOATs truly are.
