Overwatch 2 is quite commendable for the way it changes the meta often, keeping its community on its toes as different compositions come and go.
But the most recent patch has left the community in tatters, as a range of Tank buffs has completely broken the game.
So much so that Overwatch 2 players are dubbing the update as "one of the worst things they've ever seen".
Overwatch 2's new Tank meta is "the worst patch ever"
As Transformers roll out into Overwatch 2 and both Ramattra and Reinhardt get Megatron and Optimus Prime skins respectively, these chunky automobiles and the rest of the Tank pool have left the meta in an unbearable state.
Professional player "Hydron" showcased just how broken Tanks are, highlighting Mauga defeating a fully-amped-up Bastion (with Mercy Boost and Baptiste window) with ease.
Streamer "Eskay" also shows Bastion (plus boosts) being almost ineffective against Ramattra, as the entire pool of Tank heroes seems to be impenetrable.
"This patch is one of the worst things I've ever seen in my life," said popular creator "Jay3".
Overwatch 2 players implore devs to reassess new Tank meta
After just a mere few hours, players are now calling for the changes to be overturned.
"This patch shows a concerning lack of understanding about what tank needs. It doesn't need buffs. It needs to not be the centre of attention of every person for every single fight," said Overwatch coach and streamer "Spilo".
"This is the ugliest patch on paper we've had in a long time. Hoping the team will continue to be reactive to things that don't work out well," they added.
Funnily enough, it looks like the Overwatch 2 team knew what they were doing, as Lead Gameplay Designer, Alec Dawson, claimed the balance team was "going bolder" in this patch.
Overwatch 2 players often despise "Giga" Tank metas, where they become almost godlike, but this patch appears to be one step too far and the backlash might have Blizzard considering pressing the undo button.
