Oh, it's not been the greatest of months already for Activision Blizzard, and now it's become even worse.
Although Diablo IV has soared in success, its other titles have waivered. Call of Duty has erupted over anti-LGBTQ online comments made by a supported content creator and the removal of their skin sparked boycotts from the other half of the fan base, Activision has been pulled from pillar to post in unfortunate PR circumstances.
Add that to the already peeved Overwatch 2 community who are still mourning the scrapped PvE campaign, the fans are now forming an uprising, as it has been revealed that the new PvE Stroy Missions will need to be bought...
Overwatch's PvE Story Missions will cost $15
Story Missions will kick off in the Invasion season in August, and will finally give fans a slither of the PvE action that they were once promised.
However, they will be locked behind a $15 paywall, or a $40 bundle, and will be marketed alongside legendary skins, rather than having a flat baseline fee.
The first Story Missions are set to be played in Rio De Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg, and have been described as "massive maps with complex objectives, and an in-depth storyline that will guide you along the way."
Overwatch 2 fans are fuming at PvE Story Missions' price
With the Invasion Story Missions on the horizon, players have become increasingly disgruntled at the fact that they need to buy the missions, especially following the axing of the main game mode.
"A PRICE???? HAHAHAHAH THIS GAME IS A JOKE LMFAOOOOOO," shared one aggrieved fan.
"You have to buy them? LMAO just when I thought this game couldn’t get any s**ttier," added another.
Some more MTX-heavy fans have defended the price tag though, claiming that it's a bargain on top of what they normally pay.
"Yes...paying does suck...BUT THATS A STEAL! Like I as a player am going to want the legendary skin and the coins anyways!? So technically an amazing story mode for only $5," another fan said.
