Palworld developer Pocketpair has made a statement warning fans against downloading knock off games and applications from the app store.

While many players are grateful for the warning, others are taking the opportunity to ask the developer to create a mobile app.

It is not entirely surprising to see people attempting to profit off of Palworld’s overnight success, however it is somewhat ironic given the similarities to other games such as Pokemon.

Pocketpair has warned players not to download any Palworld apps

The developer of Palworld has come out to advise fans not to download any of the companion apps on mobile app stores, stating that none of these are official.

Pocketpair tweeted out a warning to players which said: “There is no Palworld application for phones.

“Apps using names and product images such as "パルワールド" and "Palworld" are appearing on the AppStore and Google Play, but they are not affiliated with our company in any way.

“We have reported this issue to Apple, which operates the App Store, and Google, which operates Google Play.

“Please be aware that downloading these apps may lead to the leakage of personal information stored on your smartphone or to fraud.”

While many players have thanked Pocketpair for the warning, others took the chance to ask for an official Palworld app to be brought to their phones.

One Twitter user said: “That’s crazy that there’s fake versions for mobile, y’all should go ahead and make a real one so nobody gets confused again.”

Another added: “Just make a real mobile version. It’s what the people want.”

Some people have theorised that Palworld are intentionally staying away from any platforms that host Pokemon games, including mobile, in order to attempt to avoid any copyright issues.

Palworld has been a huge success since it launched

Since it was released on 19 January, Palworld has faced immense success.

It is reportedly the biggest ever third-party Game Pass launch, with approximately 7 million Xbox players and 12 million Steam sales to date.

Despite its success, there is an irony to the game having to defend itself against copycat apps.

Since it launched, Palworld has been the centre of several controversies, including AI accusations and being accused of copying several Pokemon designs.

Nintendo recently announced that it is looking into the game, stating that it will “take appropriate measures to address any acts that infringe on intellectual property rights related to Pokémon.”

Regardless, no pocket monster game is worth having your information stolen so maybe stay away from the bootleg Palworld apps.
