It seems to be the era of leaking axed content in the Call of Duty universe, as this week has seen cancelled games, forgotten-about modes, and now left-behind Skins all be dredged up out of the archives.

Earlier this week, leakers revealed a full Call of Duty game codenamed NX1 (supposedly with the "Future Warfare" title), while footage from the popular War mode being created, and left in the lab, in Black Ops 4 also emerged.

Now, another leaker has continued this trend and vocalised two major Operator skin collaborations with Hollywood films that were made and scrapped.

Peacemaker x Call of Duty was reportedly supposed to come to Modern Warfare 2

Reflecting back over the Modern Warfare 2 era, one leaker named "FumoLeaks" has claimed that Call of Duty was supposed to have released a Peacemaker collaboration (the TV series based on Suicide Squad, not the Black Ops 2 assault rifle).

This would have seen Activision's shooter combine with Peacemaker to release Operator outfits, presumably bringing forth John Cena's depiction of the superhero, akin to The Boys' event which included Homelander.

According to the leaker, this collaboration was cancelled, or at least put on hold, because of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike where film and television writers took action against producers leaning into the use of AI and disagreements over the distribution of streaming residuals.

Fumo Leaks also suggested that the Lara Croft crossover was moved up in the timeline to cover this project and also a further cancelled collaboration, which was implied to be Resident Evil: Death Island.

Black Ops Cold War reportedly scrapped a Snake Plissken skin

Another of the leaked, and cancelled, Operator skins is that of Snake Plissken, the American bad-boy heartthrob from Escape from New York and Escape from L.A.

This collaboration was reportedly set to be released in the 80s-themed Black Ops Cold War title which also included the likes of Terminator, Die Hard, Rambo, and more gun-happy films from this era.

Alas, neither skin has ever been released, and it's growing increasingly unlikely that they'll ever see the light of day again.
