Pedro Pascal Told Not To 'F**k Up' The Last Of Us

There's a lot riding on HBO's upcoming live-action The Last of Us Series, and now, lead actor Pedro Pascal has been warned not to 'f**k' it up.

There are two renaissances happening right now, and whether it's Tinseltown actually churning out good live-action video game adaptations or Hollywood A-listers lending their talents to the small screen, the pair are going hand in hand. While 2022 arguably belonged to House of the Dragon, it looks like The Last of Us could take that crown in 2023.

Unlike the almost unanimous decision that Henry Cavill was the perfect casting as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher (emphasis on the was), Pascal's casting in The Last of Us series was a lot more divisive. From Josh Brolin to Hugh Jackman, and even fellow Star Wars alumni Oscar Isaac, Pascal's name wasn't one that usually cropped up. Now, he's been warned not to "f**k it up."

Who Told Pedro Pascal Not To 'F**k Up' The Last Of Us?

For many, you'll remember Pascal as Din Djarin, aka the Mandalorian, in Star Wars. Ben Mendelsohn is also known as part of the galaxy far, far away - having played Orson Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Mendelsohn has offered his pal some sage advice, warning not to "f**k things up" with the once-in-a-lifetime chance to play Joel Miller.

As spotted by Twitter account @rejectedhannah, Mendelsohn responded to Pascal's Instagram post celebrating The Last of Us' January 15 release date. "But pasc. Better not have f*cked it up. It's probably the greatest console game of all time," wrote Mendelsohn. "Lots of us carry that game close. Trailer looks v v promising," he said, while also adding that from little he's seen of Bella Ramsey's Ellie, he's also excited. At least he ended it on a nicer note by saying, "Miss ya."

There are a lot of celebrity fans of The Last of Us, with Uncharted's Tom Holland naming it among his favourite games. Mendelsohn is right about it being one of the greatest games of all time, but fear not, Pascal previously told German magazine Neelix the show will deliver. "I think the cinematic adaptation can more than live up to the original game," said Pascal. "I have absolutely no doubts that we won’t disappoint fans of the game or new viewers alike."

Will The Last Of Us Get A Season 2?

It's clear that HBO's The Last of Us is only covering a small portion of Naughty Dog's two-game saga. Even though we expect that we'll only scratch the surface of 2013's original game, there are already hints we'll dip into the Left Behind DLC thanks to the casting of Storm Reid as Riley.

Until the show releases, we're unlikely to hear about Season 2 - come on, give it a chance. We doubt HBO, showrunner Craig Mazin, and Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann haven't sketched out a rough plan of how many seasons the story could run for, and looking at other HBO juggernauts like Game of Thrones and Westworld, it would take a serious critical panning for The Last of Us to bow out after its nine-episode debut.
