Phasmophobia's console launch was scheduled to take place this month.

Unfortunately, a 'fire incident' in the Kinetic Games Office Building has caused the developer to take a step back and delay the release.

Kinetic Games has delayed Phasmophobia's console launch

On 24 August, Kinetic Games announced that they would be delaying their console release of Phasmophobia after a 'fire incident' and developmental issues prevented them from being able to test and develop it.

The developer announced it would be releasing the game as a special launch in October instead, during the week leading up to Halloween.

On Twitter, Kinetic Games wrote: "Dear Phasmophobia Community, First and foremost, we’d like to thank you all for your support and that you are just as excited as we are for the console release.

"Due to a recent fire incident in our office building and unpredicted development issues, our ability to test and develop has been significantly impacted.

"After careful consideration, we have made the tough decision to delay the console release, initially set for August, while we get everything sorted. We are now aiming for a special launch during the week leading up to Halloween this October. This gives us the needed time to perfect and fine-tune everything. Your patience and understanding mean everything to us, and we can’t wait to bring Phasmophobia to consoles."

Many fans who had been eagerly awaiting the console launch reacted to their announcement with kind words, saying that they thought October was the perfect time for Phasmophobia to come to consoles and that they were glad everyone was okay.

What do we know about Phasmophobia's console launch?

Since releasing in early access on PC in 2020, fans of the multiplayer horror game have been waiting for it to come to consoles.

It was announced earlier this year that current generation consoles, meaning the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X would be getting console releases in late August, though this has now been delayed to late October.

There will not be PS4 or Xbox One support, however, it will be playable on PSVR2 which will allow console players to experience the game in VR.

While no official release date in October has been announced at this stage it is likely to be released between 21-30 October, as it is set to land in the week before Halloween, with the day falling on a Tuesday this year.
