We love a good idle game. Though we've got the likes of Elden Ring and Modern Warfare 2 keeping us on our toes (which we and appreciate), we sometimes need a break from violence and a chance to step back and chill.

It's what has made games like Abzu, Stardew Valley, and Lake so popular, but even then, there's stuff to do in those games. We want to be doing nothing and still reaping the rewards.

We want the feedback loop of Cookie Clicker back to make us feel like we're on top of the world without having to do so much as lift a finger. And it looks like Steam users do too, as a new idle game is soaring to the top of the charts.

What Is Placid Plastic Rubber Duck Simulator?

Game development is hard, and it deserves a little downtime and distance to ensure that the final product is perfect. This attitude has led Turbolento Games, the team behind the survival simulator Starsand and the aptly-titled Placid Plastic Rubber Duck Simulator.

As the name suggests, Placid Plastic Rubber Duck Simulator is a game where you simply sit and look at rubber ducks. The game is simple - you begin with a simple yellow rubber duck in a rendered swimming pool.

However, as time draws on, your duck-o-meter fills. When it reaches completion, a new rubber duck will fall from the sky into your pool, adorned in various accessories.

The game is so basic, and yet, it's so detailed - with a day/night cycle and atmospheric soundtrack changes as the days change. The game highlights rubber ducks everywhere in the most chilled-out, back-seat way. It's not just us who loves it.

Placid Plastic Rubber Duck Simulator Is Dominating On Steam

As reported by the GameDiscoverCo NewsletterPlacid Plastic Duck Simulator has become incredibly popular on Steam.

It entered its release month's 'Top 20 Most Steam reviews In The First 7 Days,' as fans flock to share their love of the game. It became the 9th highest game in this category for July 2022, and players are still adoring the gameplay in December, which is simply… looking at ducks.

The game is dirt cheap, and it's doing immaculately well for a game with such a simple gameplay loop. If you need us, we'll be gazing into the soulful eyes of rubber ducks for the next week or so.
