Be careful if you choose to visit Los Santos because Grand Theft Auto V players are reporting that they are being randomly banned from GTA Online after playing in Story Mode.
Although it was released all the way back in 2013, GTA V remains one of the most popular games in the world. For many, GTA V is Rockstar's Skyrim, having had multiple upgrades and revamps since its release. Most recently, the gangster-fuelled was transformed for the PS5, but its new-gen upgrade price left fans furious.
Now, a number of fans are once again up in arms after discovering that they have been banned from GTA Online after playing in Story Mode. There are also reports that the glitch is stopping players from going on Red Dead Online as well.
GTA V Fans Claim They Are Being Banned From Playing Online
On March 24, Twitter account Rockstar Intel reported: "Do not switch to GTA Online when playing Story Mode. There are ongoing reports from players that switching is causing and resulting in false GTA Online bans across PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. Always play GTA Online through the main menu until a fix arrives."
It's not entirely clear what exactly is causing the problem, however, it has clearly affected a number of players. Twitter-user "InfinityHimself" shared a screenshot of the message he received when he tried to go into Online which said: "Alert. You have been banned from using Social Club Services and are not permitted to enter Grand Theft Auto Online permanently. Return to the main menu."
InfinityHimself then reported that following the switch, he had also struggled to access the Online version for Rockstar's other AAA franchise Red Dead Redemption.
Has Rockstar Responded To The Reports?
As of writing, Rockstar hasn't responded to the reports as many players call on the studio to fix the issue. However, the problem only appears to be affecting a certain number of players, as others claim they have been able to access Online without any issues. As one player reported: "Wait, really? I've been doing that today and it’s working just fine." Another agreed: "I've been going into GTA Online from story mode with no problem, no ban message pops up for me."
GTA V is certainly no stranger to bugs or glitches just like any game. Hopefully, it won't be long until all players can tear up through the streets of Los Santos again soon.
