A new PlayStation State of Play is on the way, so of course, speculation has grown rampant.
It's typical of events like this at this stage - fans will gather to discuss what could be announced, and in some cases, will fabricate entire slates to share with the masses under the guise of legitimacy. Leaks are everywhere, basically, and there's a lot to pick apart.
Especially with the upcoming State of Play being confirmed to focus on third-party titles, there's some speculation to be had, but a lot of fans know where to draw the line. Especially when it comes to fake leaks.
Fans Debunk PlayStation State Of Play Leak
As many leaks do the rounds on Reddit and Twitter, some fans have come down on one leak as being blatantly fake, no matter how much we want to believe that the games in the leak are on the way.
The supposed reveal was shared on Twitter by user mrpyo1, who seems convinced that the image attached is an official leak of the upcoming State of Play broadcast on Thursday.
The leak contains hints at a Stray release date trailer, a Resident Evil: Village VR and DLC update, the arrival of Final Fantasy XVI and finally, the reveal of a The Last of Us remake with Factions 2 teaser.
Fans have sounded off in the replies, suggesting that the leak has to be fake thanks to its reliance on The Last of Us when the focus of the conference remains third-party titles. Plus, it's just a bunch of bullet points in a Microsoft Word document. So it's not particularly convincing.
Twitter Users Keep Debunking State Of Play Leaks
Twitter can't seem to keep its hands off fake leaks, seemingly letting none get away with flaunting their legitimacy.
Another leak has appeared online, and it's seemingly another Microsoft Word document - this time, though, claiming that the reveal of the Resident Evil 4 remake is imminent, and that the State of Play will reveal Modern Warfare II… even though it has already been revealed.
Fans have been sounding off in the replies and decrying it as fake - which is actually quite nice, given the amount of misinformation in gaming.
Twitter is taking no prisoners right now, and is debunking State of Play leaks left, right, and centre. Sorry, dorks - you're going to have to try harder than that.
