Imane "Pokimane" Anys is not happy with a certain group of YouTubers after coming across one of their videos in which they examined the drama with her and "JiDion", who they claimed "exposed" her taking drugs on stream.
It may have been a while ago now since Pokimane categorically denied she ever took drugs while livestreaming, but it's a topic that some streamers just can't seem to stop talking about. One such group of streamers was The Sync, who created a video exploring the topic titled 'JiDion EXPOSES Pokimane Doing COCAINE on Stream?!'. The Sync's video was posted not long after an old clip from one of Pokimane's streams, in which she is shown doing "lines" of "white powder", had been retweeted by YouTuber and former Twitch streamer, JiDion.
The video managed to slip through Pokimane's radar for a short period of time. However, when she did finally discover The Sync's YouTube post, she was not happy for a number of reasons. One of which was because the group seemingly "joked" about some of the controversial and overtly sexual comments JiDion made towards her.
What Did The Sync's YouTube Video Say About Pokimane?
The Sync's YouTube video was posted on January 14, during the backlash following JiDion's permanent ban from Twitch after he sent a "hate raid" of followers to spam Pokimane's stream and then proceeded to "harass her" on social media. On one occasion, he retweeted a short clip from the Pokimane streaming archives in which she appeared to stream herself doing "lines" of what looked like cocaine. In actuality, it was just an unusual kind of Japanese sugar. However, the damage had already been done and Pokimane found herself having to openly declare that she had never taken drugs on stream. Yet, it appeared that The Sync took the clip as fact and claimed that JiDion had "exposed" the 25-year-old doing drugs live on stream.
Unsurprisingly, Pokimane wasn't all too happy when she came across The Sync's video while streaming on January 23. Speaking as to why she decided to finally watch the video, Pokimane stated: "In the past, I have seen certain videos that speak not very positively about myself. People are like "don't give them attention", but if people are going to speak on my name, maybe it's fair for me to clarify certain things."
Pokimane was then left in hysterics after one of The Sync's team, Kai Watson, claimed that JiDion had 'exposed' her using cocaine on her stream. Wheezing with laughter, Pokimane said: "We all know that clip is bullsh*t, and we all know it's so easy to find out it's bullsh*t." She also questioned whether the group had checked their facts before stating the information on stream because she claimed they would have been able to find that she wasn't snorting coke had they done their research.
How Did Pokimane React To The Sync "Joking" About JiDion's Comments?
At one point in the video, The Sync replayed a clip from JiDion which has since been generally panned by the streaming community. In the clip JiDion addressed Pokimane's followers saying that "if you have a penis[...]she is not gonna f*ck you, bro. I don't care how much you donated, I don't care how many hours you watch her, she is not gonna f*ck you, bro." He also stated that she "had a boyfriend" and that every night she is getting "d*cked down, balls deep." Although the clip has been slammed by the community, The Sync podcasters seemingly laughed at JiDion's comments.
Understandably, Pokimane was distressed by the fact that the group appeared to "joke" about JiDion's words, saying "I don't know why dudes love to put a woman on a pedestal and then tear her the f*ck down." She also laid down the law about how men who still perceive women as "sexual objects" are just "sad". As she brought her video to a close, Pokimane stated: "If that's how you feel, please don't impose that on other men [...] if I was a guy, I'd be annoyed by people like this because I'd be thinking "you guys are making my gender look bad.""
