The ALGS Split 2 Playoffs are well underway and the pressure is mounting as 40 teams from across the globe compete for the $1 million prize pool.

During major ALGS events, it's always interesting to see which weapons are dominating and being used most by the pros.

Copying their loadouts and strategies can be a brilliant way to improve your performances in-game and potentially even climb higher in Apex Legends Ranked.

Well, so far there's one SMG that's stood out from the crowd as an absolute force, racking up the most kills and deleting opponents at close-range throughout the competition.

Heading into the Playoffs, it was obvious the Nemesis AR was going to be a powerhouse pick for the pros, but it's the Prowler SMG that's actually shining the brightest.

According to Apex Legends Status, so far on day two of the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs, the Prowler overall has racked up an unbelievable 380 kills. To put that into perspective, the next highest is the Nemesis AR with 179 kills.

The gun requires a lot of skill to use, as the burst fire means you have to be accurate with your shots to maximise its damage output. However, if you can master the SMG, its TTK is absolutely absurd and the pros are certainly making the most of it at close range.

To truly get the most out of the Prowler, it's key you hip-fire at close-quarters and ideally find a laser sight which will make hitting your shots a lot easier.

What's the best weapon to use alongside Prowler?

While the Prowler can hold its own at mid-range in Apex Legends, the SMG is not built for long-distance engagements. As a result, it's key you run a secondary that can consistently take out foes from afar.

In terms of the number one meta choice, it's without a doubt the Nemesis as the AR's devastating burst damage and blistering fire rate makes it a force to be reckoned with. If you'd prefer a semi-automatic option, the 30-30 Repeater is also strong, especially if you can find a Skullpiercer.

Finally, if you want a classic weapon that's extremely easy to use, the R-301 Carbine is a complete laser beam.

So, if you're looking for a gun to elevate your play and potentially help you in Ranked, it may be time to copy the pros and start picking up the Prowler more often.
