The second PSVR console has been a long time coming, and while VR has some way to go before it becomes a totally mainstream way to experience video games, we're getting ever closer by the day.

Eventually, we'll all be herded into Ready Player One-style digital worlds run by Mark Zuckerberg and his merry band of billionaires, and in the meantime, we'll just have to keep working towards it.

The PSVR2 is meant to be the next big addition to the worlds of virtual reality, and it's set to make a big splash alongside the PS5 - but we might have to wait a hot minute for it.

PSVR2 Is Probably Coming Next Year

PSVR2 'Unlikely' To Launch In 2022

It looks like we might be waiting a while for the new innovations in VR technology, as an analyst has suggested that we don't get our hopes up for a release this year.

In a new report on Display Supply Chain's website, the CEO of the company, Ross Young, has suggested that the new VR headset is using their technology and has subsequently stated that the tech won't be available until 2023.

"AMOLED will be back, thanks to the launch of Sony's PlayStation VR2," he says.

He then shared the post on Twitter, suggesting that "delays" have meant that the PSVR2 is likely to launch next year.

What Is AMOLED?

AMOLED, the system that Display Supply Chain seems to be providing PlayStation with, is like an enhanced version of OLED, and will be put to use in the headset's screens.

AMOLED is much more flexible than its counterpart too, which makes it perfectly adaptable to the relatively small VR headset.

The PSVR2 is set to be a big step forward for VR gaming, but it's a shame that we're going to have to wait a little longer for it. Either way, it seems like it's going to be special - so here's hoping the wait will be worth it.
