The second season of the PlayerUnknown's Battleground: Mobile Pro League Indonesia ladies tournament has been announced and is now open for registration.
PUBG Mobile female-only tournament opens for registration
Female-only teams can register for the competition up until August 8, with the event starting on August 11. There are a total of 128 team slots available for the event, which is the second time PUBG has held an official female-only event, expanding from the 16 teams enrolled in Season 1.
Indonesia is the only country to get official female-only tournaments in PUBG, with the first season being hosted last month (July 2020). Season 1 had a price pool of $1,900, and The Prime Snaky took home first place.
The format will consist of eight groups of 16, and the top four of each group progressing to make a second group stage with a final two groups of 16. Then the top seven in each group will progress to the finals, with details of the format to be announced in the future.
Is PUBG Mobile the next big esport?
PUBG Mobile has quickly become the largest mobile esports competition, boasting huge cash prizes for the Mobile World League. So far over $2million has been awarded through tournaments, with another $950,000 up for grabs this week as the World League 2020 concludes on August 9.
Since starting in July after delays, and a switch to playing online rather than LAN, 20 teams have made the grand finals, including two all-Indonesian teams: Bigetron RA and Morph Team.
With Indonesia playing hosts to the only all-female tournament across the esport, the two finalists will be flying the flag for the country in hope to inspire more players.
So far Bigetron is topping the League Play, whilst Morph Team missed out on the first two weeks and find themselves in the bottom three, facing elimination.
