Rebirth Island is back…in Fortnite

It seems that the only way to play Call of Duty is by heading to Fortnite, as the beloved Rebirth Island has made the leap to Epic's world.

Resurgence hasn't resurged with the arrival of Ashika Island in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Season 2. For all of the map's merits, the current Warzone 2 movement and general gameplay quirks have left the small team-based Resurgence game mode almost unplayable compared to the prequel.

In fact, Rebirth Island has been the only map and mode that players have really enjoyed in both iterations of Warzone since Verdansk. With many now calling for its return, Rebirth Island is back. Kind of. Well, only if you have Fortnite installed.

Rebirth Island has been remade on Fortnite

The popular Alcatraz remodel was a long-time fan-favourite in Warzone, but now thanks to Creative 2.0 mode in Fortnite, Rebirth Island has been fully remade in Unreal Engine 5 and glossed over with a typically Epic pink Candyfloss look.

Twitter user "Meanajj" shared the map on social media, where the map and the main Prison block can be seen on show. Unfortunately, the clip only shows glimpses of the surrounding areas, with the Water Tower visible alongside the Chemical Engineering Lab and the zipline to Harbour.

Rebirth Island remake is held behind Epic Games' copyright

There's one snag with this new design, and that comes from the Fortnite makers Epic Games, who recently put out a strike on players recreating places from other IPs.

From the get-go, Creative 2.0 was littered with remakes like GTA's Grove Street and Elden Ring missions, but the developers quickly put out a notice that Creative should only be used for new and original ideas (with the exception of the OG Fortnite map rebuild).

There does remain some hope for playing this map, as the creator has already broken the Ts and Cs of Creative by simply creating it, so they could publish it for a limited time for players to enjoy. Despite Epic making it clear Creative 2.0 shouldn't be used to bring other games into Fortnite, is that going to stop us?
