It's all change in the CoDverse, as the tatters of Vanguard and the desolate wasteland of Warzone prepare to give way to a (hopefully) brighter future. 2022 is pitched as the biggest in Call of Duty's 19-year history, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 promise to make up for a grim 2021.

Much like Overwatch 2 has been slammed and already cast aside because it's effectively just an expanded version of the OG, there are those asking why we need Warzone 2 when we've still got the classic Warzone. More than burning everything to the ground and starting again as we did with Caldera, the devs are going to have to do a lot more than just deliver a new map.

What Is The Warzone 2 Interrogation Feature?

Just like Modern Warfare 2 is tipped to be a true sequel to 2019's fan-favourite game, Warzone 2 should feel like a wholly new adventure. Thankfully, a stream of leaks about old Modern Warfare locales arriving on the Warzone 2 map - alongside upcoming features that are brand-new - has us feeling a little more settled.

More than unveiling a new map that will be bigger than Warzone's, we're told about a potential Warzone 2 interrogation feature that will mark rival teams. According to Exputer, the interrogation feature will work in a similar way to Caveira's Interrogation ability in Rainbow Six Siege, which lets you drill downed players for info on where their teammates are.

Unlike Caveira, the Warzone 2 interrogation feature will be available to all members of a squad and not limited to just one Operator. Of course, most of us will know it sounds suspiciously similar to Fortnite's shakedown feature. The popular perk let you grab a downed player and ping their teammates wherever they were on the map. Sadly, Fortnite's handy shakedown was removed at the start of Chapter 3.

Why Haven't We Heard About The Warzone 2 Interrogation Feature?

The site explains how the Warzone 2 interrogation feature is currently in its early stages and the animations are still being worked on. Apparently, they currently sit at around six seconds and feature an execution-style animation where the downed player is injected with a stim (possibly a truth serum) before being killed. If it's still in the testing phases, it might explain why Infinity Ward hasn't officially unveiled the feature yet.

Insider Tom Henderson goes on to explain how there will be tiered armour, the return of Pro Perks from Call of Duty's heyday, and the addition of Strongholds. The most interesting takeaway is that those rumoured Modern Warfare POIs might not launch alongside Warzone 2 at launch. Henderson reminds us that everything should be taken with a large pinch of salt, but by the sounds of the interrogation feature, it's looking pretty likely.
