While we're revving our chainsaws in anticipation of Capcom's Resident Evil 4 remake, some wannabe Weskers have been accidentally given the full game ahead of time.

We find ourselves asking what's the point in embargos these days, as there's a continuing trend of companies shipping games early. It happened with Call of Duty: Vanguard, it happened with God of War Ragnarok, and now, the Resident Evil 4 remake is the latest AAA title to drop through your letterbox early.

Why has the Resident Evil 4 remake shipped early?

Posting on Twitter, noted leaker Dusk Golem said Resident Evil 4 remake spoilers are "100 per cent in the wild." Confirming our worst fears, they added, "Be careful on social media and video sharing sites."

While they said they're confident Capcom will start "scrubbing stuff soon," we all know the leaks will likely be turning up on Reddit or spreading across the Twitterverse like wildfire.

You might be wondering what there is to spoil about a game that's been out since 2005 and had almost as many ports as Skyrim, but from what we've seen, the Resident Evil 4 remake is very different to its predecessor.

As well as overhauling mechanics on how the irritating Ashley Graham works, the story seemingly mixes things up with the fate of Luis. It's similar to how Capcom's Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes did more than just update the graphics.

Push Square corroborates what Dusk Golem says, adding that the leak doing the rounds "expands to character designs, encounters, and much, much more." Now might be the time to stay off YouTube and start muting on Twitter.

Watch out for Resident Evil 4 remake spoilers

It's clear there are still plenty of surprises to come from the Resident Evil 4 remake, and top of the list, we're asking what's coming with Ada Wong. The shady sleuth is a fan-favourite of the series and had her story expanded by the original "Separate Ways" campaign.

We were told there would be more Ada this time around, and if you want to spoil her revamped look, DSO Gaming has some blurry screenshots (click at your own risk).

There's also a Reddit thread detailing all the game's achievements - and some pretty spoilerific plot points. The recent RE4 remake demo had a secret "Mad Chainsaw Mode," proving that Capcom will keep us on our toes right up until March 24.
