Resident Evil 4 is peeking around the corner, and we've never been so excited to be impaled on a pitchfork.
The remake has been a long time coming, with fans reeling from the similar remakes of the franchise's second and third mainline instalments, and it looks like it will soon finally be time to take the series' most iconic title into the newest gaming generation.
There is a lot of hype pumping into this game, but there are dated features of the original game that fans have been hoping would get a tidy-up in this new remake - namely its rain, which appeared in the first game as obnoxious white streaks that effectively obscured the events of the game itself.
And it looks like Capcom is trying to keep ahead of it.
Resident Evil 4 Remake's rain has different (but no less terrible) rain
The rain of the original game wasn't all that great, being a huge obstruction to players' enjoyment of the game and vision in general - but as judged by a new preview of Resident Evil 4's sections by GameInformer, there's a new problem.
Fans have pointed out that even though the obstruction from the rain has all but vanished, there are new frustrations to come with its applications. It has been pointed out that the rain itself in the game looks a little odd, as it seems to follow Leon as he walks, and it looks to part to make way for Leon rather than allowing him to walk through it. It's a logical workaround for the game's developers, but it's hard not to notice it shifting for our protagonists.
Thankfully, though, Capcom is on the ball.
Capcom will fix Resident Evil 4's rain
The strange rain effects might be an oddity to watch now, but after criticism from fans, it looks like it won't last long.
"We’ve seen everyone’s reaction to the rain effects, and we are working on a day one patch to make adjustments," producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi tells Press Start Australia. Nice.
Thankfully it seems that the team knows just how important this game is and that these small frustrations with the gameplay are being considered so well. We could be in for a treat with this one.
