Rockstar Could Already Be Hiring For GTA 7

You might've heard about a little game called GTA 6, supposedly coming out in 2025. With the next chapter in the Grand Theft Auto series already tipped to topple its predecessor, could GTA 6 really become the biggest video game of all time?

If we've learned one thing from GTA, it's that there's still plenty of tread on the tyres, meaning that at some point in the very distant future, we'll likely be hyping up the release of GTA 7 (as long as the world doesn't end before them). It looks like Rockstar Games could already be gearing up for what comes next.

Assuming GTA 6 releases in 2025, it will have been 12 years between games. Even if we stick to the same schedule, we logically wouldn't be seeing GTA 7 this side of 2037, which makes the mind boggle. Then again, with reports of Rockstar North's former president Leslie Benzies mulling over ideas for GTA 6 as soon as GTA V was released, the developer likes to plan ahead.

Over on the GTA 6 subreddit, fans are sharing an apparent job listing that points to what's coming after GTA 6. With GTA 6 in the home stretch, it's fair to assume this hiring isn't for the launch of the next game. While it's possible it's for some DLC or proposed GTA Online sequel, the comments think it's for the inevitable GTA 7.

Rockstar New England is looking for a Visual Effects Artist, with a mention of how the ideal candidate will help "immerse the player in a believable world, from using ambient effects for things like insects around the player and rain dripping off buildings up to large scale destruction events like skyscrapers crashing to the ground."

We previously heard that GTA 6 had cut dynamic weather, and we were worried that destructible skyscrapers would go the same way. Still, we'll have to wait and see when/if we get another trailer. Battlefield 2042 also skipped out on the feature, but with the Just Cause games already showing us how it's done, GTA has no excuse.

The comments are split, with some thinking destruction events could be part of GTA 6, it could be for another Rockstar game, or we're really looking that far ahead to GTA 7. We know another game is at least being talked about, with Take-Two Interactive CEA Strauss Zelnick joking about GTA 7 at the TD Cowen 52nd Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.

You might think, "Give us a break," and that it's too early to talk about GTA 7, but with the gaming industry moving at breakneck speed, Rockstar would be wise to keep looking to the future. It's about time the automotive adventure let us make the most of our destructive tendencies.
