Scump reveals plans to un-retire in Call of Duty alongside Nadeshot

Not quite able to keep the hands off the competitive sticks, Seth 'Scump' Abner has been entertaining a semi-unretirement teaming up with several other all-timers.

Call of Duty legend Seth "Scump" Abner has publicly floated the idea of stepping back into the competitive arena with the intent to be "semi-taking it seriously."

However, the plan isn't to bring it back to the highest level of competition in the Call of Duty League. Instead, the proposed idea would see other legends of the game team up to play in the developmental second-tier system Challengers.

Appearing to be more than an off-the-cuff remark but rather a vision with some thought behind it, OpTicTexas promptly put the clip up on their socials.

A star-studded proposal

Selling the idea to his fans, Scump named potential candidates who could be teaming up with him for this Challengers project.

"Me, Nadeshot, Boze, Zinni, scrimming not every day but on stream not as jokes, but semi-taking it seriously and then playing the cups and stuff," the 28-year-old said on his stream.

Combining legends of the game in 100Thieves org owner and CoD all-timer Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag, OpTic content creator and retired CoD legend Marcus "MBoZe" Blanks, streamer and former CoD All-Star Anthony "Methodz" Zinni, the team would put down almost four decades of professional Call of Duty experience back in play.

All eyes on Challengers

While the goal wouldn't be to seriously compete or play in the major tournaments, it would still provide great content and attention to the programme, argued Scump. "We’d be America’s favourite challengers team," he concluded, summing up the opportunity.

With clearly communicated expectations, as Scump has done here, the message of how the fanbase should receive those matches appears straightforward.

Though Challengers appears to have its intended purpose as a system to develop up-and-coming talent for the Call of Duty League, a way for game legends to stick around in the ecosystem while bringing viewers to the second tier could be seen as mutually beneficial for all parties involved.

The other suggested team members have so far not commented on the matter, given the type of the project, an immediate commitment would also not be required.
