Secretlab's Monster Hunter Fatalis chair is the stuff of dreams for fans
If you're excited for Monster Hunter Wilds, you should really check out Secretlab's latest Capcom collab. Here's what I thought.

It's a bit of a joke around the GGRecon offices that I am "the Monster Hunter guy". Whenever we hear anything about Monster Hunter Wilds, for example, I get tagged throughout Slack.
And do you know what? I love it. I absolutely love beating the snot out of a dragon to turn it into a sword that then helps me beat up even bigger dragons. Capcom has perfected that gameplay loop, and with it being the twentieth anniversary of the series, I'm so happy we're getting a whole host of crossovers.
One of my favourites was the reveal of a new Fatalis-themed chair from Secretlab, who, knowing about my love of all things Monster Hunter, was kind enough to send me one of - and it didn't disappoint.
Fit for a Hunter
I'm not going to get too into the weeds here of the chair itself, because we've already got a review of the Titan EVO 2022.
In all honesty, this is now the third Secretlab chair I've owned, and while the Overwatch 2 Genji one is very cool, I think the Fatalis may take the cake.
As you'd expect from the manufacturer, it's comfortable, with solid lumbar support and customisable sections like swappable armrests and a magnetic cushion for behind the head.
It's also very easy to put together, with Secretlab doing a great job of laying everything out nicely in the box, as well as having child-safe features for those putting it together with kids around (my five year old was very intrigued). One of my favourite things is that barely any of it requires tools, and the parts that do are included in the box, while the instructions can be flipped over for some lovely Fatalis artwork.
On wings of fury
While some of Secretlab's designs, like the iconic Cyberpunk 2077 chair, are more "in your face", the Fatalis one is more subtle. There's the Fatalis' map icon stitched onto the rear of the seat, while the front has a raised image of the creature wrapped around a sword.
The white stitching contrasts nicely with the black body, with some nice purple accenting on the sides of the seat that moves up into a sort "webbing" that looks like Fatalis' wings. That appears on the sides, too, and some detailed patterns extend from the user's "shoulders" like the sharper parts of the monster's wings.
Perhaps most impressive, however, are the textured sides. With an almost snakeskin feel, with scales that ride up the sides of the chair back, they're unlike anything I've seen on prior models - although I'd imagine if you had the Rathalos model from a while back it'd feel somewhat familiar.
In a fun way, it almost feels as though the manufacturer slayed the Fatalis to turn it into a chair, and if that's not what a Monster Hunter tie-in should feel like then I don't want to know.
