Hogwarts Legacy is set to be a refreshing change of pace for fans of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Though there's still plenty of controversy surrounding the financial involvement of Harry Potter scribe J. K. Rowling, this is the first peek at something potentially good for fans of the series.

It's coming at a time Fantastic Beasts spiralled out of control, and the story of The Cursed Child was deemed to be a little bit… wonky.

The game has a lot of potential, meaning Avalanche Software has had to pull out the stops in development. As it turns out, that includes some fantastic casting choices.

Simon Pegg Joins Hogwarts Legacy

In a surprise new announcement, it has been revealed that Cornetto Trilogy royalty Simon Pegg has stepped up to the plate to portray Hogwarts Legacy's Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black.

The character has appeared in the films as a painting in Dumbledore's office, but this is our first look at the man himself - a Slytherin who has taken on the role of headmaster.

By Pegg's own admission, Black has taken the role for little beyond personal gain.

He is said to be the school's least popular headmaster ever, so it looks as though Pegg will be having plenty of fun with the role.

Simon Pegg - Phineas Nigellus Black Is 'Pompous'

In a new promo video released on the Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account, Simon Pegg has revealed exactly how he feels his character is, and why he acts the way that he does, calling him pompous and disinterested.

"He's not a good teacher or headmaster in any way," he says. "I thnk we would've taken on the role of headmaster because of the gig. You know, it's a prestigious position, I don't think he has any interest in children's education or being in any way a role model, it's not really his concern. What he wants is the kudos of being the headmaster of the greatest wizarding school in the world. He's just a bit of an idiot, really."

He is also Sirius Black's grandfather, offering fans a connection to the original books and films - but it certainly seems that Pegg will be making the character his own.
