What defines one as "the greatest"? It's a question that often bothers the Call of Duty esports community, with those who define it by "the highest individual skill ceiling" sitting in the camp of Seth "Scump" Abner.

Others who look at accolades and accomplishments above all else being among the Ian "Crimsix" Porter supporters, and some who lean into recency bias, edging towards names like Chris "Simp" Lehr and Tyler "aBeZy" Pharris as who the best player of all time is.

The latter pairing might not be at the point where they can really lodge arguments for GOAT status in CoD, but as a pairing, they now have the longevity and success to dine among the greats, as their most recent outing in the Call of Duty League saw them become the joint-best duo ever.

Simp and aBeZy are already two of the most successful players in Call of Duty history, having won two World Championships, and are the only people to have ever appeared in four consecutive World Championships Grand Finals, but the new season has marked yet another major milestone in their story.

As pointed out by BrianStats1 on Twitter, Atlanta FaZe's appearance in the CDL 2023-24 Major 1 Grand Final saw Simp and aBeZy appear in a Final together in their sixth different CoD title, which officially ties the previous record set by Crimsix and Damon "Karma" Barlow.

Unfortunately for the pair, FaZe lost the final to Toronto Ultra, but this accolade marked a significant period of longevity fro the dynasty duo, as the "tiny terrors" begin to make arguments to be the best pairing of all time.

Are Simp and aBeZy the greatest duo in CoD esports history?

Going back to the original argument, many fans will still look at Crimsix and Karma as being the best duo, having hoisted 19 premier trophies together in their stints at compLexity and OpTic Gaming, whereas Simp and Abezy only have nine.

Still, the CDL franchising era has put a halt to how many trophies are actually possible, and others will argue that FaZe has never dropped out of the top four teams in the world for over five years (spanning into the eUnited era too).

Other fans might also wonder where Scump and Matthew "FormaL" Piper land on the list, but T2P only managed four years worth of Grand Finals together.
