Skill-based Matchmaking is preventing MW3 players from enjoying the camo grind

Skill-based matchmaking is quite the thorn in the side of Modern Warfare 3 players who just want to do camos.

The race to get Interstellar first might already be over and done with, but there’s no shame in second place, and we all want to sport those mastery camos in the coming weeks and months.

But if you’re well on your way to getting Gilded on a few guns or even a handful of Forged guns categories, you might have come across the biggest barrier yet: skill-based matchmaking.

SBMM has been a thorn in the side of CoD players for years, but in Modern Warfare 3 it’s back and bigger than ever.

Modern Warfare 3 players can't do camos because of SBMM

The grind to get the mastery camos is well underway, and players have been meandering through some rather difficult challenges this year, with Tac Stance kills replacing the Longshot palooza of Modern Warfare 2.

But it isn't helped by a severe SBMM system, which is pitting anyone who has one good game against players who are ranked Iridescent or Top 250 in either Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone.

That's the case at least for "ExoGhost" who has taken to social media to show that he's been partied against some of the best players in the game while trying to rank up his pistols.

"I'm playing against Top-250 players while I'm using a revolver, that's crazy," he said.

'The game doesn't allow me to play casually' claims MW3 camo grinder

Instead of continuing on this Revolver and sniper combination, the content creator was forced to whip out some of the default weapons to take care of the sweaty opposition, which continued to vex ExoGhost.

"I'm trying to use a secondary and I'm trying to play casually, but the game just doesn't allow me. It doesn't let me," he added.

"Everyone here is using meta and head glitching, holy s**t. Okay, we won, but it's kind of sad to see that this is what CoD pubs have become though."

Unfortunately, there seems to be no escaping SBMM's cruel grip this year, and you're likely going to need to get those annoying challenges out of the way in your first few games of the day before getting your sweat on.
